Box Score 2 WALNUT RIDGE, Arkansas - The Lyon College Scots softball team dropped a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday afternoon 8-1 and 6-3 to the host Williams Baptist Eagles.
The Scots (3-10) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning of the first game, but Williams Baptist answered with eight runs in the bottom of the fourth and went on to win 8-1.
Lyon College got its only run on a solo homer to center field from
Ashley Abel.Â
Able had one of only three hits for the Scots.
Olivia Orf went 2-for-3 on the day that included a double. Lyon College turned two double-plays in the first game.Â
Sydney Lasher (3-2) suffered the loss for the Scots going 3.2 innings and giving up eight hits and eight runs with two walks to the 21 batters she faced.
Georgia Holzer came in to pitch 2.1 innings and gave up only one hit and had one strike out.
In the second game, Lyon College held a 2-0 lead after the top of the third inning, but Williams Baptist got a run in the bottom half of the third, then added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth and two in the bottom of the fifth to lead 6-2. The Scots got a single run in the top of the sixth to account for a 6-3 loss.
In the first inning, Orf doubled to right field to bring in
Brianna Morquecho. In the top of the third inning,
Rebecca Rodriguez reached first on an error that allowed
Anna Voth to score to make it 2-0 Scots.Â
After Williams Baptist came back to take a 6-2 lead, Voth singled to center field to bring in
Fallon Lancaster to make it 6-3 in the top of the sixth inning.
The Scots return to action with a home doubleheader against Rhodes College on March 22.
