Scots softball season come an end on Senior Day

Batesville, AR - Four of Lyon College softball's own said goodbye today as they will graduate this May. Skylar Foreman, Chloe McCance, Anna Voth, and Sophie Varela will pursue their futures having left an impact as members of Scots Softball.

Lyon fell in both games of their double-header against the Greenville University Panthers (10-2, 14-1). Despite early competitiveness in game one, Greenville's power at the plate proved difficult to contain.

The Scots combined for 10 hits across the two games, with Chloe McCance and Ohnrie Bergman led the way each driving in a run. Kori Cox tallied two hits on the day, while Lyon pitchers combined for two strikeouts across both contests.

In Game 1, Lyon matched Greenville early as Varela reached base and later scored on a double by McCance to tie the game at 1-1 in the first inning. The Scots added another run in the second as Bergman delivered an RBI single to even the score again at 2-2.

Greenville would respond in the third inning with a three-run frame, capitalizing on defensive miscues to take a 5-2 lead. The Panthers continued to build their advantage in the fifth and sixth innings, adding five more runs to extend the lead to 10-2. Lyon threatened in later innings with baserunners but could not convert, falling in game one 10-2.

In Game 2, the Scots held Greenville scoreless in the opening inning before the Panthers broke through with a seven-run second inning, highlighted by multiple extra-base hits and a home run.

Lyon found its lone run in the fourth inning as Foreman doubled and later scored on a groundout, but Greenville continued to apply pressure offensively. The Panthers added three runs in the fourth and four more in the fifth, powered by multiple home runs to extend their lead to 14-1.

Scots end the season with record of 9-31 overall, 4-12 in SLIAC conference play, and finished 8th in the standings.
