PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania -- Lyon College women's soccer earns five USCAA All-American and All-Academic honorees.
Allison Byars, a senior defender from Fayetteville, Arkansas, earned both USCAA First Team All-American and All-Academic honors. Byars is one of two players to start all 15 matches for the Scots this season, while also leading the team with 1,270 minutes played. She also scored two goals and had four total points on the season.
Emily Betzold, a junior defender from Frisco, Texas, also earned both USCAA First Team All-American and All-Academic honors. Betzold started all 14 matches she appeared in for the Scots, and she is one of six players on the team to play 1,000-plus minutes for the season. She also added two goals on four total shots, and had a total of four points.
Katelyn Balderas, a sophomore midfielder from Temecula, California, earned both USCAA Second Team All-American and All-Academic honors. Balderas started all 12 matches she appeared in for the Scots, while also reaching 1,018 minutes played. She also scored four goals on 10 on-goal shots and had a total of eight points.
Jessica Steele, a sophomore forward from Huntsville, Alabama, was named a USCAA All-American Honorable Mention. Steele appeared in all 15 matches for the Scots this season, starting 14 of them, and was also third on the team with 1,153 minutes played. Steele scored a team-best five goals along with one assist, and led the Scots with a total of 11 points.
Zoe Papazoglou, a junior central-midfielder from Commack, New York, was named to the USCAA All-Academic team. Papazoglou started all 13 matches she appeared in for the Scots this season, picking up five assists with two on-goal shots, along with five total points.
