Lyon College Softball takes 5th seed into AMC tournament

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College Scots softball team will begin play in the American Midwest Conference tournament on Tuesday, May 3rd against Hannibal-LaGrange at 12:30 p.m. at Antimi Softball Complex in Columbia, Missouri.
 
The Scots (12-22) started the season off 0-12 before getting into conference play where they amassed a 10-8 record and will be the fifth seed in the tournament. Hannibal-LaGrange (15-22) is the fourth-seeded team in the tournament with a record of 11-7.
 
The tournament begins at 10 a.m. on May 3 with top-seeded Columbia taking on No. 8 Health, Science and Pharmacy in Pool A. In Pool B at 10 a.m., No. 2 Missouri Baptist will play No. 7 Williams Baptist. Hannibal-LaGrange will face Lyon in the second Pool A game, while No. 3 Central Baptist College will play No. 6 William Woods at 12:30 in Pool B.
 
Later that day, the losing team of Pool A's first game will play the losing team of Pool A's second game at 3 p.m. The losing team in Pool B's first game will take on the losing team of Pool B's second game also at 3 p.m.

Last season, the Scots lost to Missouri Baptist 2-1, but came back to defeat Harris-Stowe 21-1, Stephens College 13-1 and knocked off No. 3 Missouri Baptist 4-2 to advance to the third day of the tournament. In the semifinals, William Woods defeated Lyon 7-2.
