BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College Softball team earned the No. 6 seed in the AMC Tournament and will take on the No. 3 seeded Missouri Baptist University Spartans on Wednesday. The first pitch on Wednesday is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
The Matchup
Missouri Baptist University: The Missouri Baptist University Spartans finished the year with a 14-12 record, 11-7 mark in AMC play. The Spartans are led offensively by Shelby Sievers and Madalyn Bone. Sievers paces MBU with a .379 batting average and has recorded 12 RBI's, while Bone is hitting .326 with a team-high 19 runs scored on the year. In addition to leading the MBU offense, Sievers is also the team's top pitcher. Sievers is currently 7-4 with a 3.11 earned run average and a team-best 53 strikeouts on the season.
Lyon College: The Lyon College Scots enter the tournament with an overall record of 13-25, 8-10 in AMC play. The Scots are led offensively by
Kassidy Robinson,
Riley Shaw, and
Celsey Wood. Robinson is currently hitting .394 with a team-best 22 RBI's and a team-high 22 stolen bases. Shaw posts a .364 batting average with 12 runs scored, while Wood is hitting .361 with 14 RBI's on the year. The Scots are led in the circle by
Katelyn Platt. Platt is currently 4-7 with a 3.77 earned run average and a team-best 53 strikeouts on the season.
