BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College Softball team takes on No. 2 University of Science and Arts on Friday. The Scots will face Midland University and USAO for the second time in as many days on Saturday.
The Matchup
No. 2 University of Science and Arts: The University of Science and Arts Drovers are 15-2 on the season, 7-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC). The Drovers are led offensively by Amanda Moreno and Randa Hatter. Moreno is currently hitting .520 with 14 runs scored, while Hatter sports a .404 batting average with a team-best 19 hits and 15 RBI's. The Drovers are led in the circle by Emily Cerny. Cerny is currently 10-2 with a 1.83 earned run average and a team-high 84 strikeouts.
Midland University: The Midland University Warriors are 10-3 on the season. The Warriors are led offensively by Emily Prai and Roni Foote. Prai paces Midland with a .529 batting average and a team-best 23 runs scored, while Foote is hitting .467 with a team-best 19 RBI's. The Warriors are led in the circle by Aliyah Rincon. Rincon is currently 5-1 with a 2.58 earned run average and a team-high 51 strikeouts.
Lyon College: The Lyon College Scots are currently 3-14 on the year with a win over Xavier University of Louisiana and a pair of wins over Texas A&M-Texarkana. The Scots are led offensively by
Kassidy Robinson,
Cheyenne Herrera, and
Faith Cornmesser. Robinson paces Lyon with a .333 batting average to go along with a team-high 16 hits and has swiped a team-best 11 bags on the season. Herrera posts a .313 batting average with eight runs scored, while Cornmesser is hitting .286 with four RBI's on the year. The Scots are led in the circle by
Katelyn Platt. Platt is currently 2-5, including a complete-game victory, and has converted a save on the year.
Series History: This will be the first meeting between the Scots and the Warriors, while Lyon played No. 2 USAO earlier this season with USAO defeating the Scots by a score of 6-0.
