BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College Softball team hosts Williams Baptist University on Tuesday. This will be the conference opener for the Scots with the first pitch of the doubleheader scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

The Matchup
Williams Baptist University: The Williams Baptist University Lady Eagles are 8-8 on the season. The Lady Eagles are led offensively by Shelby Jones and Alyssa Cordell. Jones paces Williams Baptist with a .514 batting average and seven runs scored, while Cordell is hitting .419 with 11 RBI's on the year. The Lady Eagles are led in the circle by Tess Temple. Temple is currently 3-2 with a 2.65 earned run average and a team-high 30 strikeouts.  

Lyon College: The Lyon College Scots are currently 3-12 on the year with a win over Xavier University of Louisiana and a pair of wins over Texas A&M-Texarkana. The Scots are led offensively by Kassidy Robinson, Cheyenne Herrera, and Faith Cornmesser. Robinson paces Lyon with a .381 batting average to go along with a team-high 16 hits and has swiped a team-best nine bags on the season. Herrera posts a .345 batting average with seven runs scored, while Cornmesser is hitting .279 with four RBI's on the year. The Scots are led in the circle by Katelyn Platt. Platt is currently 2-5, including a complete-game victory, and has converted a save on the year. 

Series History: Lyon is 11-20 all-time against Williams Baptist University, with their most recent meeting being in 2019 as the Scots defeated the Lady Eagles by a score of 6-3.
