BATESVILLE, Ark. – The (RV) Lyon College softball team will travel to Henderson, Tenn. to take on Freed-Hardeman University on Tuesday. The first pitch of the doubleheader is set for 2:00 p.m.
The Matchup
Freed-Hardeman University: The Freed-Hardeman University Lions are coming off a 2020 season in which they finished 2-7 overall. The Lions are a member of the Mid-South Conference. Freed-Hardeman University returns two of their top hitters in Cassie Hayes and Sophie Dunavant. Hayes posted a .462 batting average, while recording a team-high 12 hits and swiping two bags. Dunavant totaled a batting average of .400, while tallying a team-best nine RBI's and three home runs. Freed-Hardeman University will lean on Catherine Crabb in the circle. Crabb was 1-2 last year with a 4.20 earned run average and a team-high 16 strikeouts.
(RV) Lyon College: The (RV) Lyon College Scots are currently 3-1 on the year with a win over Xavier University of Louisiana and a pair of wins over Texas A&M-Texarkana last week. The Scots are led offensively by
Kassidy Robinson,
Addison Harmon, and
Cheyenne Herrera. Robinson sports a team-best .538 batting average to go along with a team-high .692 slugging percentage. Harmon has posted a .438 batting average and swiped a team-best six bags, while Herrera is hitting .429 through four games. The Scots are led in the circle by
Katelyn Platt. Platt is currently 2-0, including a complete game victory, and has converted a save on the year.
Series History: Lyon is 6-8 all-time against Freed-Hardeman, with their most recent meeting being in 2019 as the Scots defeated the Lions by a score of 5-4.
