Softball Set for Gulf Shores Tournament

Lyon College Softball travels to Alabama to compete in the Gulf Shores Tournament Mar. 6 – Mar. 8

BATESVILLE, Ark. – Lyon College Softball travels to Alabama to compete in the Gulf Shores Tournament on Friday, Mar. 6, Saturday, Mar. 7, and Sunday, Mar. 8. While in Alabama, Lyon will face Brenau University, No. 8 University of Mobile, No. 20 Morningside College, Blue Mountain College, Keiser University, and No. 10 Georgia Gwinnett College.

Lyon College is currently 11-4 on the season. Brenau University is 3-4 on the year, while No. 8 University of Mobile sits at 7-4. No. 20 Morningside College posts a record of 10-2, and Blue Mountain College is 9-3 so far this season. Keiser University is a perfect 6-0 on the year, while No. 10 Georgia Gwinnett College is 9-6.

The Matchup
Brenau University: The Brenau University Golden Tigers are 3-4 on the young season. Brenau University is led offensively by Shelton Kendrix and Faith Grooms. Kendrix paces the Golden Tigers with a .545 batting average, while Grooms is hitting .435 and has a team-best 10 RBI's and six stolen bases on the year. Brenau University is led in the circle by Cameron Dillard. Dillard, who is 1-2 on the year, has thrown a team-high 18 innings, while striking out 12.

No. 8 University of Mobile: The University of Mobile Rams are 7-4 this year. University of Mobile is led offensively by Amberly Montgomery and Eila Infante. Montgomery paces the Rams with a .444 batting average with six runs scored, while Infante posts a .435 batting average with four RBI's so far this season. University of Mobile is led in the circle by Brinkley Goff. Goff is 3-0 this year with a team-best 1.47 earned run average, while striking out a team-high 20 batters. 

No. 20 Morningside College: The Morningside College Mustangs post an overall record of 10-2. Morningside College is led offensively by Carson Cameron and Carrington Entringer. Cameron is currently hitting .512 with a team-best 21 hits, including two doubles, two home runs, and a team-high six stolen bases. Entringer posts a .414 batting average with six RBI's and 10 runs scored on the season. The Mustangs are led in the circle by Katherine Wurtz. Wurtz is 3-1 on the season with a 1.75 earned run average, while striking out a team-best 28 batters.

Blue Mountain College: The Blue Mountain College Toppers are 9-3 on the young season. Blue Mountain is led offensively by Leeah Jackson and Katie Rutledge. Jackson paces the Toppers with a team-best .522 batting average to go along with 10 RBI's, while Rutledge is hitting .511 with a team-high seven stolen bases and 14 runs scored on the year. Blue Mountain College is led in the circle by Montanna Smith. Smith posts a 5-1 record with a 4.31 earned run average, while striking out a team-high 36 batters.

Keiser University: The Keiser University Seahawks enter the tournament with a perfect 6-0 record. Keiser University is led offensively by Cheyenne Blumberg and Lexi Northway. Blumberg is currently hitting .550 with a team-best 12 RBI's, while Northway posts a .526 batting average and a team-high nine stolen bases. Keiser University is led in the circle by Giovanna Watts. Watts, who is 2-0 on the year, has thrown a team-high 16.2 innings, while striking out a team-best eight batters. 

No. 10 Georgia Gwinnett College: The Georgia Gwinnett College Grizzlies are 9-6 on the season. Georgia Gwinnett is led offensively by Sydney Pelaez and Lea McFadden. Pelaez and McFadden have identical .378 batting averages, while Pelaez has a team-best 14 RBI's and McFadden has scored nine runs on the year. The Grizzlies are led in the circle by Gracie Hogg. Hogg is 3-2 with a team-best 2.82 earned run average, while striking out 34. 

Lyon College: The Lyon College Scots are currently 11-4 on the year. The Scots are led offensively by Addison HarmonMegan MickeKassidy Robinson, and Cheyenne Herrera. Harmon sports a team-best .438 batting average, to go along with five doubles, two triples, and two home runs. Micke has recorded a .420 batting average with a team-best 21 runs scored and swiped a team-high 11 bags. Robinson and Herrera have tallied 15 RBI's and 12 RBI's, respectively. The Scots are led in the circle by Shyanne Pedroza and Katelyn Platt. Pedroza is 6-3 on the year with a 2.50 earned run average, including three complete game shutouts. Platt is 4-1 on the season with a 3.10 earned run average, while striking out 24 batters.
 
Series History: Lyon is 0-1 all-time against Brenau University and 0-2 all-time against University of Mobile. The Scots are 9-8 all-time against Blue Mountain College, while this will be the first meeting between Lyon and Morningside College. The Scots are 1-1 all-time against Keiser University, while Georgia Gwinnett defeated Lyon in the only meeting last season.
