BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College Softball team travels to Conway to compete in the Mustang meltdown on Friday, Feb. 21. Lyon will take on Goshen College and No. 21 LSU-Alexandria.
Lyon College is currently 7-1 on the season. Goshen College sits at 1-3 on the year, while LSU-Alexandria is currently 3-2.
The Matchup:
Goshen College: The Goshen College Maple Leafs are 1-3 on the young season with their lone win coming over Roosevelt University. Goshen College is led offensively by Rianna Koteles and Emily Cummings. Koteles is currently hitting .417 with one double and a team-high two stolen bases, while Cummings posts a .400 batting average with one RBI and one run scored on the year. In addition to hitting, Cummings also leads the Maple Leafs in the circle. She is 1-1 with a 1.62 earned run average and a team-best 13 strikeouts.
No. 21 Louisiana State University-Alexandria: The LSU-Alexandria Generals are 3-2 on the young season with wins over Sterling College, (RV) Central Baptist College, and Texas Wesleyan University. The Generals are led offensively by Bailey Hughes and Lauryn McMahon. Hughes paces the Generals with a .615 batting average and a team-best five RBI's, while McMahon posts a .462 batting average. In the circle, LSU-Alexandria is led by RyLeigh Rutherford. Rutherford is 1-1 on the season with a 5.38 earned run average, including three strikeouts.
Lyon College: The Lyon College Scots are currently 7-1 on the year and riding a six-game win streak. The Scots are led offensively by
Addison Harmon,
Megan Micke, and
Riley Shaw. Harmon sports a team-best .500 batting average, to go along with five doubles, two triples, and one home run. Harmon has also tallied a team-high seven stolen bases and posted eight RBI's on the year. Micke has recorded a .444 batting average with a team-best 11 runs scored. Shaw leads the Scots with 11 RBI's on the young season, while collecting a .364 batting average. The Scots are led in the circle by
Shyanne Pedroza and
Katelyn Platt. Pedroza is 4-0 on the season with a 2.16 earned run average, including four complete game victories. Platt is 2-1 on the year, including a complete game shutout over No. 21 LSU-Alexandria.
Series History: This will be the first meeting between Lyon College and Goshen College. The Scots are 2-3 all-time against LSU-Alexandria, with their most recent meeting being earlier this month as the Scots earned a run-rule victory over the Generals, 8-0.
