BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College Softball team hosts the Lyon College Tri-Match on Saturday, Feb. 15 and Sunday, Feb. 16. Lyon will take on Bethany College and Peru State College two times apiece throughout the weekend.
Lyon College is currently 3-1 on the season. Bethany College sits at 2-3 on the year, while Peru State University opens their 2020 season on Saturday.
The Matchup
Bethany College: The Bethany College Swedes are 2-3 on the young season with wins over William Woods University and University of the Southwest. Bethany College is led offensively by Morgan Russell and Ciera Flores. Russell paces the Swedes with a .500 batting average, a team-best four doubles and six RBI's. Flores is currently hitting .375 with six runs scored and a team-high three stolen bases. In the circle, the Swedes are led by Samantha Quezada. Quezada is 1-1 on the season with a 2.33 earned run average, including a team-best 13 strikeouts.
Peru State College: The Peru State College Bobcats are coming off a 2019 season in which they finished 8-38 overall. The Bobcats are a member of the Heart of America Athletic Conference and posted a 7-29 mark in conference play a year ago. Peru State College returns two of their top hitters in Tyler Farrell and Payton Beckmann. Farrell posted a team-best .361 batting average, while slugging six home runs and tallying a team-high 30 RBI's last season. Beckmann totaled a batting average of .346 with a team-best 11 doubles on the year. Peru State College will lean on Alana Krieser in the circle. Krieser was 6-13 last year with 28 strikeouts and a 4.13 earned run average.
Lyon College: The Lyon College Scots are currently 3-1 on the year with wins over Sterling College, Texas A&M University-Texarkana, and No. 21 LSU-Alexandria. The Scots are led offensively by
Addison Harmon,
Jasmine Carlos, and
Kassidy Robinson. Harmon sports a team-best .615 batting average, to go along with four doubles, one triple, and one home run. Harmon also leads the team with six runs scored, six RBI's, and six stolen bases.
Jasmine Carlos posts a .500 batting average on the year, totaling three doubles and four RBI's, while Robinson is hitting .429 with five runs scored and five RBI's. The Scots are led in the circle by
Shyanne Pedroza and
Katelyn Platt. Pedroza is 2-0 on the season with a 0.69 earned run average, including two complete game victories. Platt is 1-1 on the year with a 3.38 earned run average, including a complete game shutout over No. 21 LSU-Alexandria.
Series History: Lyon won their only meeting against Bethany College last season by a score of 6-5. The Scots and Bobcats have only met once with the Scots defeating Peru State College, 6-3, in 2019.

The Scots travel to Conway to compete in the Mustang Meltdown on Friday, Feb. 21 and Saturday, Feb. 22. While in Conway, Lyon will face Avila University, University of Saint Mary, (RV) Central Methodist University, and No. 3 Oklahoma City University.
