BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College softball team begins play in the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Tournament on Wednesday in Columbia, Missouri. The Scots have earned the No. 4 seed and will take on No. 5 seeded Freed-Hardeman University at 11:00 a.m.
Lyon College is 31-12 overall, 17-5 in the AMC, while Freed-Hardeman University is 25-12, 15-9 in the AMC.
The Matchup
Freed-Hardeman: The Lions post a 25-12 record on the year, including a 15-9 mark in AMC play. Freed-Hardeman is led offensively by Annalise Jarnagin and Kaylyn Graham. Jarnagin paces the Lions with a .418 batting average and a team-best 46 hits, including 11 doubles, a triple, and five home runs. In addition, Jarnagin has totaled 22 RBI's and 21 runs scored. Graham is currently hitting .314 with a team-best 13 home runs and a team-high 40 RBI's on the season. The Lions are led in the circle by the pitching duo of Morgan Crawford and Emily Bradford. Crawford, who is 14-7 on the season, posts a 1.46 earned run average over 134 innings and has recorded a team-high 69 strikeouts. Bradford sports an 11-3 record in the circle with a 2.82 earned run average in 104.1 innings and has totaled 48 strikeouts on the year.
Lyon College: The Scots are 31-12 on the season, including a 17-7 record in AMC play. The Scots are led offensively by
Cheyenne Black,
Megan Micke,
Addison Harmon, and
Riley Shaw.
Cheyenne Black has a team-best .363 batting average with a team-high 33 RBI's.
Megan Micke is currently hitting .355 with a team-high six home runs and an AMC-best 36 stolen bags.
Addison Harmon posts a .354 batting average on the year, totaling 30 RBI's and 23 stolen bases, while
Riley Shaw has a .344 batting average with 24 RBI's and 19 runs scored. In the circle,
Katelyn Platt is 17-5 on the season with a 1.97 earned run average. The sophomore has thrown 145.2 innings and allowed just 41 earned runs, while striking out a team-best 93 batters.
Series History: Lyon split with Freed-Hardeman this year as the two squads met in early April with each game being decided by one run.
