Lyon College Athletic Director Kevin Jenkins has announced Ben Bernard as the next head coach of Scots Men's and Women's Golf. 

"I am excited to welcome Ben Bernard as our next head women's and men's head golf coach," said Jenkins. "Coach Bernard will be a great asset to our golf program, athletic department and college. We are looking forward to Ben working with our great young women and men on our teams."

Bernard comes to Lyon with half a decade of coaching experience having most recently served as the Interim head men's and women's golf coach at NAIA Hope International University during the 2025-2026 season. Prior to that he served as the Royal's assistant coach mentoring and developing student-athletes to multiple All-GSAC honors, an NAIA All-American, multiple tournament victories, and a women's golf conference championship in 2024. Outside of the college ranks he worked with PGA professionals to impart the skills and fundamentals to young golfers as an assistant instructor at the Black Gold Golf Club in Yorba Linda, California.

Before beginning his coaching career he was a four-year member of the Hope International men's golf and served six years in the United States Army Reserve. 

He is a native of Cypress, California, and earned an associate degree in kinesiology from Cypress College, a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Hope International University, and a Master of Business Administration from Hope International University.
