Scots finish 4th in SLIAC Championship Tournament; Turner and Beasley named second team all-conference

Colinsville, IL - Lyon college men's golf battled with the top of the conference throughout the past three days, finishing fourth overall in the SLIAC Men's Golf Championship. Scots Blake Turner and Hunter Beasley were named All-Conference second team, Wes Lange named to All-Sportsmanship, and the team was honored with the Sportsmanship Award. 

Scots finished with a final tally of 901 (300-303-298) strokes, finishing nine strokes behind the next team. Grinnell College won out with a total of 886 (290-301-295), Mississippi College for Women took second just three strokes behind with 889, and Lake Forest College placed third with total of 892. 

Blake Turner led the Scots placing 10th overall with a final count of 221 (75-74-72). Through the first two rounds he was consistent paring most holes and collecting six birdies (6,9,13,14). He accounted for six bogeys in round one, improving in round two with only four including a double. Round three was a his best shooting an even 72, while adding two birdies (8&10) and two bogies (3&13).

Hunter Beasley was two strokes behind sitting tied for 12th with a 224 total (76-77-71). In rounds one and two he played best on the back nine, recording multiple pars, three birdies (12&17), and two bogies (16&18) albeit one double. Third round was his best shooting one under in front (35) and even (36) on the back nine. He notched three birdies (1,7,9) and two bogies on the first nine, while paring all but two holes which he split with a birdie (18) and bogey (16). 

Ryan Kriz placed tied for 20th with 229 (74-76-79) total. His best round was the first shooting 74, carding five birdies (4,9,11,14,18), paring nine holes, and recording four bogies. 

John Waltzer placed tied for 23rd with 230 (75-78-77) total. He also played his best in round one carding 75, he recorded three birdies (1,10,11), ten pars, and five bogies. 

Michael Winne shot 234 (80-76-78) to place tied for 31st. His outing in the second round was his best, notching three pars (8,11,12), nine pars, three bogies, and two double bogies.
