Batesville, AR - For the second year in a row, Lyon College is the favorite in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer pre-season poll.
Lyon earned five first-place votes and 60 points to win the SLIAC. In 2nd, Spalding received 57 points and four first-place votes. Greenville was voted third with 50 points, followed by Webster in fourth with 44 points.
Principia received 36 points to finish fifth, with Westminster voted sixth having 29 points. Blackburn placed seventh with 24 points, Eureka eighth with 16 points, and Mississippi Women's came ninth with 8 points.
Coming off a great 2024 season, winning the 2024 USCAA National Championship, with an 11-5-4 record and going 6-1-2 in conference the Scots look to continue their success. Head Coach Emanuel Santos will return eight starters including Gabriel Rangel, Tomas Biasi, Matheus Nunes, Joao Barros, Micah Rangel, Lucca Torres, and Cristian De La Rosa.
Last year, Gabriel Rangel was named Third Team All-SLIAC and Nunes was named Second Team All-SLIAC. Biasi was also named Second Team All-SLIAC as well as a USCAA Second Team All-American.
In addition to the starters and returning players, 18 newcomers will also be added to the team, bringing new energy to the squad.
The 2025 season begins Saturday, August 23 at 3:00 PM facing Ouachita Baptist in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
