Conway, AR - The Lyon College Scots men's soccer team was handed their first tie of the season off a late goal by the Hendrix College Warrirors. LC is 1-0-1 on the year.
Lyon took six shots with only one coming in first and five in the second. Of all the Scots shots two were on goal, with both coming in second half. Hendrix fired seven shots with three in the first and four in the second. Of all the Warriors shots three were on goal, with one in the first and three in the second.
Ariel Reyes led the team scoring the Scots only goal, with one shot and shot on goal.
Lucca Torres and
Joao Barros contributed with Torres adding two shots and Barros adding one shot and one shot on goal.
Gabriel Rangel collected two saves on the day, giving up one goal.
First half of match was slow with neither team's offense able to threaten the other outside of a few exceptions. Rangel made his first save on the first shot of the match catching it in the bottom center of the goal (14:57). Scots first shot was fired by
Inaki Terra missing headed left beside the goal (16:42). Two shots from the Warriors were the rest of the action for this half with the first coming 23:12 and the second at 43:52.
The offenses started to come alive in the second, with Torres put pressure on the Warriors with a shot the missed left (46:07). Rangel kept the match scoreless with his second save on the day (64:15). Barros put the first shot on goal for the Scots but stopped by the Warriors goalkeeper (76:02). Reyes put the Scots on top, 1-0, finding the back the net with an assist from
Matheus Nunes (79:33). A shot from the Warriors missed (85:33), but not a minute later Hendrix tied the game (86:47) at 1-1. In the final three minutes Bruno Macias pressed Hendrix to break tie firing a shot that hit the woodwork (87:29). After 90 minutes of play final score tied 1-1.
The Lyon College Scots will travel to Irving, Texas in the Dallas area to face the University of Dallas Crusaders on Friday, September 5 at 7:00 PM.
