Scots men's soccer falls to Centenary in 1-0 loss

Shreveport, LA - A sparse first half gave way to an offensive overload by the Scots, Lyon had multiple opportunities but was unable to find the win against the Centenary Gents. Scots are now 2-1-1 on the year. 

Lyon took a total of 15 shots during the match with only three coming in the first and 12 coming in the second half. Of all the Scots shots seven were on goal, with 2 in the first half and five in second half. Centenary fired six shots with only one in the first and five coming in second half. Of all the Gents shots only two were on goal with both coming in the second half. 

Matheus Nunes led team taking five shots and putting three on goal. Gabriel Rangel led the team with one save and giving up one goal. 

Very little in terms of statistical offense showed up in the first half. But Lyon did take first shot of the match with Nunes sending it to the Gents goalkeeper Sam Brocato (7:25). Gents would fire one off in retaliation but would miss high over the goal (9:52). Salvador Fernandez trying to put the Scots up one, fired a shot that was saved by the Centenary goalkeeper (11:05). Around 17 minutes later, Lucca Torres would take the last shot of the half missing the goal wide right (28:09). Neither team would lead going into halftime. 

In the second half the offensive trickle turned into a stream with the first shot coming quickly from the Gents missing high (46:27). Scots would attack Centenary's goal repeatedly with the first shot from Micah Rangel being blocked by the Gents (47:09). Seconds later Cristian De La Rosa fired one off the crossbar (47:24), then Nunes put one on goal that was unfortunately saved by the Gents goalkeeper (47:47). Scots would stay aggressive with a Nunes corner kick (56:25) setting up a header from Ariel Reyes (56:35) that was saved by the goalkeeper. Each team's offense battled for field position, finally both sides traded blows within a minute of each other. Torres missed wide right off a header (62:06) and the Gents sent it wide right as well (63:03). Scots would put another shot on the goal with Piero Macia firing one off but it was saved by Centenary (77:28). Gents would take another shot at the Lyon goal but would miss wide left (79:14). A Centenary corner (80:30) would set up Gabriel Rangel to make his only save on the day (81:13). Centenary would score off a penalty kick (84:01). Scots undeterred kept attacking till the end with shots from Traviss Ragan hitting the crossbar (89:22) and being saved by the Gents goalkeeper (89:45). Gents would take the match 1-0. 

Scots men's soccer will travel to Clarksville, Arkansas to face the University of the Ozarks Eagles on Sunday, September 14 at 3:30 PM.
