Batesville, AR - Lyon men's soccer is set to kickoff their 2025 season at home and abroad this labor day weekend facing McMurry and Hendrix College. Scots will host McMurry this Sunday, Aug.31 at 10:30 AM, then travel to Conway, AR to face Hendrix Monday, Sep.1 at 7:00 PM. Under the leadership of head coach
Emanuel Santos, Lyon was ranked 1st in the SLIAC preseason with 60 points and receiving five first-place votes.
Scots return many of their key starters including
Gabriel Rangel,
Tomas Biasi, and
Matheus Nunes all of which have been named to the SLIAC Players to Watch list. Rangel led the SLIAC in Goals Against Average (.826), Saves (65), and Shutouts (5). He was also recognized Third Team All-Conference last year. Biasi, a high-end contributor was in the top ten in Shots(9), Shots on Goal (6), and Shots Percentage (.222). He was also recognized Second Team All-Conference and a USCAA Second Team All-American last year. Nunes was 4th in the SLIAC in Assists (6), among the team he was in the top three in several categories Goals(4), Assists(6), Points(14), Shots(32), and Shots on Goal (15). He was also recognized Second Team All-Conference last year.
Lyon will host the McMurry Warhawks this Sunday, Aug.31 at 10:30 AM. This will only be the second contest between the programs, with the previous meeting occurring Aug. 30 of last year. Scots fell 1-0 to McMurry in Abilene, TX. McMurry leads all time series at 0-1.
Scots will then travel to Hendrix to play Monday, Sep.1 at 7:00 PM. Last meeting with Warriors was Sep.30, 2024 in Conway,AR. Lyon dropped the game 2-0 to Hendrix, Scots lead the series 7-3 overall.
Lyon men's soccer ended their season last year 11-5-4 overall, 6-1-2 in conference, and were the 2024 USCAA DI National Champions. Now holding full NCAA Division III membership, Lyon is eligible to compete in postseason play and the SLIAC Conference Tournament.
