Lyon men's golf wins the Scots Fall Invitational

Batesville, AR - Wrapping up the second day of the Scots Fall Invitational, Lyon men's golf A-team finished first beating out their nearest opponent Texas Lutheran University by ten strokes. Scots hosted eight teams including one St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference member in Mississippi University for Women. Lyon fielded a total of three different teams in the tournament labeled A, B, C. Lyon A-Team consisted of Ryan Kriz, Mikey Winne, Blake Turner, Hunter Beasley, and John Waltzer. The B-Team consisted of Carter McCaffrey, Joshua Lane, Carter Manry, Manav Perfecto, and Ace Sibley. Finally the C-Team was Dakota King, Alex Gleason, Wes Lange, and Robert Hopper

Lyon's A-Team shot a 302 in round one and a 291 in round two for a tournament total of 593 to place first. Texas Lutheran recorded a 304 in round one and a 299 in round for a total of 603 for the tournament. Williams Baptist University placed third with 604, shooting a 304 in round one and a 300 in round two. In fourth was the Mississippi University for Women finishing round one recording 302 and 306 in round two for a total of 608. Hendrix College finished fifth recording a 609 for tournament, shooting 313 in round one and 296 in round two. Lyon's B-Team shot 308 in round one and two to place sixth with a total of 616. Southeastern Arkansas College shot a 315 in round one and 317 in round tow for a tournament total of 632 to place seventh. North Arkansas College placed eighth shooting 649 for the tournament, recording 332 in round one and 317 in round two. Scots C-Team finished ninth shooting 322 in round one and 328 in round two for a tournament total of 650. Crowley's Ridge College shot 332 in round one and 330 round two finishing 10th with 662 total strokes. LeMoyne-Owen College finished 11th recording 392 in round one and 371 in round two for a total of 763 for for the tournament.  

Three Scots were among the top-ten finishes for the tournament, they are Ryan Kriz, Mikey Winne, and Blake Turner

Kriz led the Scots placing tied for 1st shooting two under for the tournament, he recorded 70 in round one and 72 in round two for a tournament total of 142. In round one Kriz got off too rocky start bogeying holes 1 & 2, he then found his rhythm paring the majority of other holes (3-5, 8-9, 10-13, 16-18). He would birdie holes 6,7,14,15 in round one. In round two he was great leading off with birdie on hole 1, then paring the rest (2-3,6-9), with the exception of hole 4 which he birdied and hole 5 his only double bogey of the tournament. On the back nine of round two he bogeyed hole 10, birdied hole 11, then pared the remaining holes. 

Winne placed tied for 4th recording a 76 in round one and a 76 in round two for a final tally of 148. In round one on the first nine he would par six holes (1-3, 6-8), and bogey holes 4,5, and 9. He would par all of his last nine holes in round one with the exception of hole 17 which he bogeyed. In Round two, he pared 11 holes and notched two birdies. He also shot eagle on hole 7 shooting two under par. He only bogeyed on holes 4, 5, 9, and 13 in round two. 

Turner  finished tied 10th for tournament, he notched a 77 in round one and a 73 in round two for a total of 150. In the first round he pared most holes (1-2,6,8-9,10-13,15), birided holes 14 and 18, but he would shoot over on on four holes bogeying 3,5, and 7 with his only double bogey of the tournament coming on hole 4. Round two he improved paring eleven holes (1-6, 9, 14-15, 17-18), birding holes 7,10,11, and bogeyed holes 8,12,13,and 16. 

McCaffery finished tied for 16th, shooting 79 in round one and 73 in round two. He had difficulties in the first round recording several bogeys, but he still pared the majority of holes and birdied his first hole. He found his groove in the second round where he pared most holes and birdied holes 7 and 9. 

Lane and Beasley both finished tied for 19th place with stroke counts of 153. Beasley had a rough patch on the back nine of round one recording five bogey's, but in the second round he pared 11 holes and notched two birdies. Lane started off the first round with a birdie and added two more throughout the round, this along with the 10 holes he pared offset bogeys and a double bogey. In the second round he pared the majority of holes, recorded four bogeys, and a double bogey. 

Manry placed 23rd with a total of 154, recording 76 in round one and 78 in round two. Waltzer finished 28th shooting 80 in round one and 77 in round two.
