Bill Walmsley Golf Classic

BATESVILLE, Arkansas — Easton and Caden Griffin teamed up with Braxton Davis and Conner Foree to win the championship flight of the 2025 Bill Walmsley Golf Classic on Friday, June 20, at The Course at Eagle Mountain in Batesville.

A total of 116 players participated in the annual four-person scramble, which drew golfers and spectators from across the region for a full day of competition.
All proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Lyon College Athletics program, supporting student-athletes across all sports. The funds help provide equipment, travel opportunities, facility upgrades and other critical resources that enhance the student-athlete experience.
"This tournament is about more than golf. It's about giving back to our student-athletes and building a stronger program," said Kevin Jenkins, Lyon College director of athletics. "We're grateful to everyone who played, sponsored and supported the event. Their generosity has a real and lasting impact on our program."
In other flights, Gannon Bailey, Drayson Gillihan, Tex Cook and Steve Baxter took top honors in the first flight. Rich Gregg, Riley Gregg, Blake Bledsoe and Coleton Traub won the second flight, while tournament namesake Bill Walmsley joined David Walmsley, Will Coleman and Clayton Shaver to capture the third flight.

Bailey also claimed the men's long drive title, while Colby Cockrill won the women's division.
Closest-to-the-pin contest winners included CJ Brustom (No. 3), Parker Rehorn (No. 6), Spencer Reaves (No. 13) and Lisa Stallings (No. 15). Bart Simmons won the chipping contest, and Brad Mace was tops in the putting contest.

The tournament was presented by Atlas Asphalt and White River Materials. Spartan Mowers served as the shirt sponsor, and HES Facilities Management provided hats and coolers.

Oaklawn in Hot Springs was the gold sponsor. Silver sponsors included Bill and Janis Walmsley and Bank of Cave City. Other key contributors were Stanley Wood (hole-in-one contest), Fox Creek BBQ (lunch), and FARCO and PRECISE (putting and chipping contests). RAWK Imprinting, LLC sponsored koozies.

Hole sponsors included Morningside Coffee, UPS Store of Batesville, Kent's Firestone, Snowy Pines, Mechanical Construction Services, North Arkansas Industrial Services and Solutions, Tooth Be Told, First Community Bank, and the Lyon College Athletics Booster Club. Kallsnick, Inc. supplied a refrigerated truck.
The event honors the legacy of Bill Walmsley, a longtime local education advocate, and continues to support community partnerships and athletics in Independence County.
