Batesville, AR – As day three of the Mark Martin Automotive/Lyon College Invitational wraps up, two teams have secured their spots in the championship game, while the remaining two continue their fight in the losers bracket.
Today's action opened with Southside taking on Thayer, where the Bobcats jumped out early and held a 23–17 halftime lead. Southside clawed back and kept it tight, but Thayer edged out a narrow 40–38 win in the final seconds. Thayer's #23 Jayden Belcher led all scorers with 21 points, while Southside's #3 Clifton Pate kept his team in it with four threes and 14 points.
In the second matchup of the day, Cedar Ridge and Mountain View battled in another tight contest. The Yellowjackets carried a 26–22 lead into halftime, and despite a strong push from the Timberwolves down the stretch, Mountain View held on for a 48–46 victory to secure their spot in the championship game. Mountain View's #3 Tyler Newton led all scorers with 20 points, while Cedar Ridge's #35 Rylan Brown paced the Timberwolves with 16.
With wins by Thayer and Mountain View, both teams advance to the championship game on Saturday, December 13th at 7:00 PM. Southside and Cedar Ridge move to the loser's bracket and will face off earlier that evening at 5:40 PM.
Saturday, December 13th marks the final day of the tournament. The girls' loser's bracket game and championship game will take place first, followed by the boys' loser's bracket and championship matchups.
