Batesville, AR - Day two of the Mark Martin Automotive/Lyon College Invitational has come to an end. Two teams have advanced to the championship, two have fallen to the loser's bracket, and two have exited.
Our second day of play tipped off as the Thayer Lady Cats took on the Cedar Ridge Timberwolves in the consolation game. The Lady Cats led the Timberwolves 29-16 at halftime, Thayer would get the win 62-38. For the second time during this tournament, #15 Kadyn Hilles was the lead scorer for the Lady Cats. Scoring 20 points, making four field goals, and sinking 4 three-pointers. #15 Shelby Parker scored 15 points for the Timberwolves, making 3 field goals, and 3 three-pointers.
Second game of the day saw the Southside Lady Southerners face the Greers Ferry Westside Lady Eagles in first semi-final match. Southside led by just one point 37-36 going into halftime, but Westside would come back to get the win 75-67. #23 Ashlyn Cossey scored 26 points for the Lady Eagles, making 10 field goals, and shooting 6 of 12 from the charity stripe. #22 Maci Witt put up 28 points for the Lady Southerners, sinking 8 field goals, making one from long range, and shooting 10 of 13 from the free throw line.
The Mountain View Lady Yellowjackets faced Nettleton Lady Raiders in our final game of the day. The Lady Yellowjackets led Lady Raiders 29-24 going into halftime, Mountain View took the semi-final match 64-47. #3 Addy Davis scored 23 points, making 8 field goals, and shooting a perfect 7 of 7 from the charity stripe. #1 Kaedyn Hardaway recorded 14 points, notching four three pointers, and shooting 2-6 free throws.
With Mountain View and Westside's wins today they will advance to the Championship match, which will be played Saturday, December 13 at 4:20 PM. Since Southside and Nettleton lost they have fallen the loser's bracket matchup which will be played Saturday, December 13 at 3:00 PM.
Tomorrow Thursday, December 11 the boys will be back as the Thayer and Southside face off at 6:00 PM. Later that night Mountain View and Cedar Ridge boys will play at 7:20 PM.
