Batesville, AR - Lyon Scots men's basketball is set to make their debut at Scots Madness this Wednesday, October 29th at 7:30 PM in Becknell Gymnasium.
Come out enjoy concessions provided by our softball team, compete for prizes provided by our sponsors, and see the guys in action before we open the season.
There will be three events in addition to the intersquad between the teams. A skills contest and 3-point contest where a lucky fan will have the ability to compete for prizes against members of the team, as well as a dunk contest.
Here are the rules for the skills contest, there will be five cones set on the court that contests will have to zig zag through to go score a layup on the first end of the floor. After the layup is made the contestant will have to zig zag back and make a layup, free throw, and 3 pointer to win the event. Contest will be between
Stephen Reed vs Fan and
Tucker Cunningham vs Fan.
The rules for the 3-point contest are as follows. A random student will be picked the from the crowd, that student and a player will each go to separate baskets where they will get 1 minute on the score clock to shoot and three basketballs to shoot with. The spot they will be shooting from is the top of the three point line. We will split our team in half between both baskets, to cheer and rebound for the person shooting. There will only be one round the contest will be
Brody Tucker vs Student and
Georges Archer vs Student.
For the Dunk contest Scots fans will get to watch members of the 2025-26 Lyon College Fighting Scots men's basketball team compete. There will be a preliminary round where each player gets 30 seconds to make a dunk. The top 4 dunkers will advance to the next round and we will do the same for that as well. We will then pick the two top and they will compete in the 3rd and final round.
At 8:17 PM Scots will tip off for the intersquad as navy takes on grey. There will be two 20 min halves, a running clock with a 6 minute halftime. Each team will have 3 timeouts for the game. If there is a close game with under 1 min in the second half the clock will stop and any foul will result in free throws. Scots will split their team of 24 men in two teams of 12 each.
