Lyon men's basketball ranked 2nd in SLIAC Preseason

Batesville, AR - The Lyon College men's basketball team has been voted to finish 2nd in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's 2025 pre-season poll. 

Scots received 52 points to be ranked 2nd in the SLIAC poll. While Spalding placed 3rd with 48 points and one first place vote. Greenville came in 4th with 36 points and one first place vote. In 5th, Eureka received 33 points. 

The Mississippi University for Women placed 6th overall with 30 points, while Westminster recorded 26 points to be ranked 7th. Blackburn received 22 points for 8th place and bringing up the rear was Principia in 9th place with 14 points. 

Finishing last year in the 2024 USCAA semi-finals, Scots finished 18-9 overall and 14-4 in conference look to make the postseason after officially becoming NCAA Division III members this year. Head coach Rodney Mayes returns impact players like veterans Colbie West and Johnzelle Bush along with sophomore Kennedy Warren. Look out for fresh faces to make a splash, among them are transfers Stephen Reed, Xavier Sorrell, Kenneth Brown, and Camron Williford

The 2025-26 season begins Friday, November 7th with the Scots taking on the Austin College Roos in Batesville, Arkansas at 5:00 PM.
