NAPERVILLE, Illinois -- Lyon College women's wrestling is heading back home from the 2024 North Central Women's Open.
The Scots finished their day of positioned in 30th place out of 44 teams, scoring a 20 team points and finishing a collective 4-7 on the day.
Sidney Milligan competed in the 160 class in Group B, where she blazed her way into the championship bout, collecting two of her three victories via pin fall. Milligan opened her run with a victory against Maddie Hall of the University of Wisconson-Stevens Point in the opening round, advancing to the quarterfinals where she earned a 4-3 decision win over Fabiana Josa of New Jersey City University. In the semifinals, Milligan defeated Katt Mossinghoff of Lindenwood University, securing her spot in the championship bout where she eventually fell to Ruby Rios of McKendree University via pin fall.
In total, Milligan placed second in her weight class, finishing 3-1 on the day and garnering 18 points.
Mikayla Wallace competed in the 138 class in Group A, where she fell in the opening round to Madeline Barton of Quincy University. Wallace later picked up a victory in the consolation bracket, winning via tech fall over Emma Donovan of Grand Valley State University. Wallace finished 1-2 overall on the day, picking up two points.
Rubi Gonzalez competed in the 110 class, where she finished 0-2 on the day, barely falling in her opening match via an 11-10 decision against Veronica Cosio of Elmhurst University.
D'Mysha James made her collegiate debut at the North Central Women's open, competing in the 180 class where she finished 0-2 on the day in her matches against Ruby Joseph of Northern Michigan University and Madisyn Crawford of Quincy University.
The Scots will return to action on January 11 when they host Texas Women's University for a dual inside the Garner Recreation Center at Becknell Gymnasium in Batesville.
