LOUISVILLE, Kentucky - The Lyon College women's soccer Scots got a second half goal from
Allison Byars to tie the Golden Eagles of Spalding 1-1 on Thursday afternoon in SLIAC action in Kentucky.
Byars goal came in the 67th minute on an assist by
Emma Rumore. Rumore's cornerkick was headed in by Byars to make it a 1-1 game. But that was just half of the story. Cave City's
Jessie Stauffer had 11 saves as the Scots goalie on 12 on-goal kicks by Spalding.Â
Defensively, Lyon College (2-4-2, 1-0-1) stopped 29 shots at the goal from the Golden Eagles with a solid line led by
Emily Betzold,
Nataly Furne and Byars.
Katelyn Balderas,
Lauren Couture,
Mikayla Neveloff, Rumore,
Jessica Steele,
Millie Beller and
Zoe Papazoglou kept Spalding off balance and took away shot attempts at key times during the match.
It was a breakaway from Neveloff and Rumore that set up a corner kick for the Scots that Byars netted for the tie.
Â
Furne and Byars had the only two shots for Lyon College.Â
Bethanny Moore came in to play defense,
Angela Penaflor was in the midfield,
Maggie McCollum played defense, while Hanna Kara Birgisdottir,
Natalie Wyatt and
Emilee Simpson came in to relieve midfielders.
