Batesville, Arkansas - Lyon College Director of Athletics
Kevin Jenkins has officially announced the appointment of
Paeton Tucker as the interim Head Volleyball Coach for the Scots.
Tucker, a standout alumna of the program, stepped into the interim leadership role following her tenure as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. During her time as a student-athlete at Lyon, she was a four-year member of the team, earning 2023 USCAA Second Team All-American honors and helping lead the Scots to a USCAA National Championship runner-up finish. As an assistant she coached three SLIAC All-Conference selections.
In his statement, Jenkins expressed confidence in Tucker's ability to maintain the program's momentum during the transition.
"Paeton has a deep understanding of our volleyball program and the values we uphold at Lyon College," said Jenkins. "Her experience as both an All-American player and a dedicated coach makes her the ideal leader to guide our student-athletes through this interim period. We are excited to see her bring that same passion to the head coaching role."
"I'm very excited about the future of our volleyball program with Paeton Tucker as our interim head coach," said Dr. Kurt Grafton, Lyon College Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost. "Paeton is a dedicated leader who is respected by our students and serves as an excellent mentor."
Tucker also shared her excitement about stepping into the position.
"I am incredibly excited to step into this role — going from once wearing the jersey to leading the program is a full-circle moment," said Tucker. "This change comes with new challenges and opportunities to grow even more, and I can't wait to see what this upcoming season brings. Go Scots!"
Tucker graduated from Lyon College in 2024 with a degree in psychology and was a frequent member of the Dean's List and Athletic Director's Honor Roll. Prior to joining the Scots' coaching staff, she spent three years coaching club volleyball with White River Juniors. Previously serving as an assistant with a focus on back-row defense and serve receive, Tucker now takes the helm as Lyon continues its transition into NCAA Division III competition.
Tucker's appointment ensures continuity for a program coming off a successful 20-9 season. She replaces former head coach Kortney Cunningham, who previously lauded Tucker's "passion and composure" as essential traits for her coaching career.
