Scots secure the series but split the day with MUW

Batesville, AR – Scots bats get hot for an explosive game one but the Mississippi University for Women Owls get their claws out for a competitive game two. With the split, Scots take the conference series and are 23-9.

Game 1
Lyon College 18, Mississippi University for Women 7

Lyon College Fighting Scots dominate the Owls 18-7, powered by a massive 16-hit performance. The Scots asserted their authority early, answering a three-run MUW opening frame with five runs of their own, highlighted by Slade Inman's clutch three-RBI double and a Landon Swallow RBI single. Lyon broke the game wide open in the second inning as Ashton Compton drove in a run before Swallow launched a towering three-run home run to push the lead to 11-3. Kooper McCoy and Compton continued the onslaught in the third and fifth, while Tyler Hahn delivered a crushing two-RBI double in the sixth. Inman further padded the lead by drawing a bases-loaded walk and scoring on a wild pitch during a four-run sixth-inning surge. On the mound, Brody Bailey earned the win with five solid innings, surrendering only four runs while keeping the MUW bats at bay. Jonah Wilkerson provided steady relief to close out the contest.

Game 2
Lyon College 6, Mississippi University for Women 9

In game two, the Scots fought hard but were unable to make a comeback. The Scots' offense was sparked early by Eli Marcotte, who finished with a team-high three hits, and Tyler Hahn, who drove in the team's first run in the opening frame. After falling behind 5-1, Lyon attempted a comeback fueled by Braden Bramlett's RBI double in the fifth and a monumental solo home run from Cash Arnhart in the seventh. Ashton Compton and Landon Swallow each contributed sacrifice flies to keep the Scots within striking distance, while Kooper McCoy reached base twice to sustain the pressure. On the mound, Aidan Linson provided a strong relief appearance, striking out four Owls over three innings. Thomas Irwin also kept Lyon competitive by allowing zero earned runs in his three-inning stint.

Up next, Scots have their final home series of the season as they take on the McMurry University War Hawks this Saturday with the first pitch coming at 12:00 PM.
