Louisville, KY – Scots fall to the Spalding Golden Eagles on the day. After a challenging game one, some momentum was found in game two but were unable to get past the Golden Eagles. The Scots are now 5-27 on the season
Game 1
Lyon College 2, Spalding University 11
Lyon College Scots struggled to find their rhythm in an 11-2 loss against Spalding.
Sophie Varela provided a spark at the top of the lineup, recording two hits and scoring the team's opening run in the first inning.
Kori Cox was also a bright spot, going 2-for-2 with an RBI single that drove in Varela.
Skylar Foreman added a hit and crossed the plate for Lyon's second run following an RBI groundout by
Anna Voth.
Ohnrie Bergman and
Taylor Gongre each contributed hits to the seven-hit total.
Game 2
Lyon College 4, Spalding University 5
In game two Lyon suffered a heartbreaking 5-4 walk-off loss. The Scots wasted no time in the first inning, as
Sophie Varela sparked the offense with a lead-off single and later scored on a grounded-out RBI by
Kori Cox.
Chloe McCance quickly followed with an RBI single of her own, driving in
Skylar Foreman to give Lyon a 2-0 advantage. The Scots continued to manufacture runs in the middle innings, with
Anna Voth showing speed on the basepaths to score in the fourth and McCance delivering her second RBI of the day in the fifth to plate
Kaylee Payne.
Taylor Gongre anchored the team from the circle, battling through over 130 pitches and contributing two hits at the plate.
Ohnrie Bergman also added a hit to Lyon's eight-hit total. Despite the individual efforts from the Scots' lineup, the Golden Eagles mounted a late comeback to steal the victory in the final frame.
