Batesville, AR - After a tough loss to start the day to the Eureka College Red Devils (15-5), Scots roared back to life to take the second game (7-4) with clutch hitting and defensive play making an impact. With today's results Scots are now 4-16 on the season and are now 1-1 in SLIAC conference play.

Game 1
Lyon 5, Eureka 15

The first game of the day was a tough one for the Scots, as they certainly had a opportunity in this game. First inning was a quick one as Chloe McCance would recorded two of her three strikeouts in this first inning, the third out would come as Callie Marberry threw down to Taylor Gongre to catch the runner stealing. Scots would go scoreless through the first, the Red Devils would score three runs to take the lead early (3-0). Scots would respond as their bats came alive, with Onhrie Bergmann driving in an RBI to cut the lead to two runs (3-1). The hits kept coming in the 3rd for Lyon as the bases were once again loaded. A hit by Gongre would send a runner home for RBI and Kori Cox was hit by a pitch to send another home to tie it (3-3). Mia Sanchez would score on Bergmann's sacrifice fly, an error would put Skyler Foreman on base allowing another run to come in putting the Scots in the lead (5-3). Eureka would then tie it in the fourth, then score ten more runs in the following innings off a good performance by their hitters.

Gongre and Bergmann led the team offensively. Gongre recorded three hits and one RBI, while Bergmann recorded one and drove in two RBI.
Game 2
Lyon 7, Eureka 4

Your fighting Scots showed resilience throughout the game, making the comeback and securing the win off some timely hitting and defensive plays. After a quick inning for Eureka, Scots get runners in scoring position on walks and a wild pitch in the first. A sacrifice fly from Foreman would bring home Sophie Varela for the first run (1-0). Rebecca Rodriguez would drive in an RBI off a ground out, allowing Sanchez to score (2-0). Lyon's defense would protect the lead through the next two innings, with Gongre recording her first and only strikeout of the day in the third. Offensively Lyon would threaten Eureka during the 2nd and 3rd, getting runners on due to errors and walks but could not make anything of the situations.

In the fourth the Red Devils would tie the game (2-2) off a two run homer, Scots would get out of the inning then respond with four runs of their own. In bottom of the fourth Gongre would be walked followed two quick outs. Back-to-back walks would follow to load the bases, a single to left field from Sanchez would score a run putting Lyon back in the lead (3-2). Foreman would then hit a deep double in right field that would clear the bags for three RBI (6-2). After a scoreless fifth inning, the Red Devils would add two more runs off another home run (6-4) in the top of the sixth. Scots would add another run, with Lily Arabie coming home on passed ball to extend to a three run lead (7-4). It all came down to the top of the seventh as a Devil reached first on an error, then a single put two on. With the tying run at bat, a shallow hit ball was caught by left fielder Bergmann the rocketed over to Anna Voth at second base to complete the double play. Now with two outs, Scots would take game two as Foreman would get the final out unassisted on a ground out.

Gongre would record her first win of the season in the circle, going all seven innings while only allowing four runs and notching one strikeout. Foreman's bat was excellent driving in four RBI off two big hits.

Scots will hit the road and head to St.Louis to take on the Webster University Gorloks on Friday, April 3rd at 3:00 PM & 5:00 PM as they continue SLIAC play.
