Batesville, AR – An absolutely dominant performance from your Lyon College Fighting Scots in the second half secured the win over the Blackburn College Beavers, 75-48. Scots out shot the Beavers from the field, free throw line, in the paint, and were great off the boards. With this win Scots advance to the semifinals and improves to a 18-8 record on the season.
After trailing 27–25 at halftime, Lyon came out of the locker room with renewed energy on both ends of the floor. The Scots outscored Blackburn 50–21 in the second half, shooting an efficient 61.8 percent from the field while tightening up defensively and controlling the tempo.
Camron Williford led all scorers with 21 points, knocking down four three-pointers and adding four assists. Trevon Taylor followed with 13 points and nine rebounds, while Kenneth Brown and Stephen Reed each finished with 12 points.Taylor recorded three blocks, while Brown added two more. Xavier Sorrell posted a double-double, recording 11 points, a game-high 13 rebounds to anchor Lyon inside, and two critical steals.
The Scots owned the glass, finishing with a 46–25 rebounding advantage and generating 18 second-chance points. Lyon also capitalized on transition opportunities, scoring 17 fast-break points to steadily extend the margin.
With this win Scots will head to St. Louis, Missouri to take on the Mississippi University for Women Owls in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Semifinal matchup this Thursday, February 26th at 5:30 PM.
