Fighting Scots take down Blackburn Beavers; 78-67

Carlinville, IL - The Lyon College men's basketball team notched another SLIAC conference win, 78-67, taking down the Blackburn College Beavers. Scots are now 9-3 on the year and 4-1 in conference play.

Lyon set the tone early, building a commanding first-half lead behind efficient offense and aggressive defense. The Scots shot 50 percent from the field in the opening half and forced numerous turnovers, turning them into fast-break opportunities. A late first-half surge pushed Lyon's advantage to 43–26 at the half.

Trevon Taylor led the way for the Scots scoring 21 points, adding nine rebounds and two steals to anchor Lyon on both ends of the floor. Camron Williford provided a major spark off the bench, finishing with 14 points while going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. Stephen Reed added 12 points, while Kenneth Brown and Kennedy Warren each chipped in 11 to give Lyon balanced scoring throughout the lineup.

Blackburn made a push in the second half, outscoring Lyon 41–35 over the final 20 minutes and trimming the deficit to single digits late. Even as the Beavers closed the gap Lyon responded each time with timely baskets and steady free-throw shooting to maintain control. The Scots finished the night with 19 bench points and converted key opportunities at the line down the stretch to seal the win.
