Taylor leads Scots to win over Panthers, 118-114

Greenville, IL - Scots men's basketball earned another in the SLIAC tonight with 118–114 road win over the Greenville University Panthers. Scots are now 13-5 on the year and 8-2 in conference play. 

The Scots came out firing on the offensive end, building an early advantage behind efficient shooting and strong play in the paint. Lyon shot nearly 62 percent from the field in the opening half and carried a 59–48 lead into the break after consistently converting around the rim and controlling the boards.

Greenville made several pushes in the second half, outscoring Lyon 66–59 after halftime, but the Scots responded each time with timely baskets and trips to the free throw line. Lyon continued to attack inside and maintained its composure down the stretch to preserve the four point victory.

Trevon Taylor led all scorers with a dominant performance, finishing with 34 points on 15-of-22 shooting while adding nine rebounds. Hudson Rogers provided a big lift off the bench with 18 points and six rebounds, while Cameron Brown added 13 points. Kenneth Brown chipped in 11 points and nine rebounds, and Xavier Sorrell rounded out the balanced effort with 10 points, six rebounds, and four assists.

Lyon finished the contest shooting 59 percent from the field and scored 92 of its 118 points in the paint. The Scots also won the rebounding battle 61–46 and totaled 56 bench points.

Scots will head to St. Louis, MO to face the Webster University Gorloks this Tuesday, February 3rd at 7:30 PM.
