Batesville, AR - Fighting Scots continued their strong play in the SLIAC, gaining control of the pace early and never letting go in a 74-55 win over Principia College. Lyon is now 11-4 on the year and is now 6-1 in conference play.
Lyon set the tone early, shooting efficiently and using defensive pressure to build a 39-23 halftime advantage. The Scots knocked down 55.6 percent of their shots in the opening half and capitalized on transition opportunities, turning Principia turnovers into points to seize control of the game .
Kenneth Brown led the way for Lyon with a team-high 16 points, adding two three-pointers and multiple fast-break finishes to spark the offense. Stephen Reed followed with 12 points and six rebounds, while Georges Archer provided a big lift off the bench with 10 points. Xavier Sorrell added nine points several off fast breaks, and Camron Williford chipped in eight points and five assists as the Scots displayed balanced scoring throughout the lineup.
Principia attempted to cut into the deficit in the second half, but Lyon matched the Panthers point for point after the break. The Scots finished the game shooting nearly 50 percent from the field and outscored Principia 40-32 in the paint, while also holding a 21-15 edge in fast-break points .
Defensively, Lyon forced 15 turnovers and limited Principia to just 14.3 percent shooting from three-point range. Scots' team defense made an impact tonight preventing Principia from mounting any sustained comeback .
Scots next contest will come on Thursday, January 22nd at 7:30 PM as they face off against Westminster College in SLIAC play.
