Hendrix College defeats Lyon College baseball 9-5 at Fred Wann Field

BATESVILLE, Arkansas - The Lyon College baseball Scots fell to the visiting Hendrix College Warriors 9-5 on Wednesday night at Fred Wann Field in Batesville.

The Scots (18-17) trailed 2-0 after Hendrix scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning of the non-conference contest. Lyon College scored in the bottom of the fifth inning when Walker Smith moved up on a failed pick-off attempt by the Hendrix pitcher and Slade Inman scored.
The Scots tied the game 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Slade Inman singled through the right side to score Braden Bramlett.
Hendrix added a single run in the top of the seventh and another run in the top of the eighth to lead 4-2.
In the top of the ninth, the Warriors scored five times on four walks, one base hit and a throwing error by Lyon College, to lead 9-2.
In the bottom of the ninth, Ashton Compton doubled to left-center field to bring in Eli Marcotte and Bramlett hit a two-run homer over the left field wall to score Compton and make it 9-5 before the last out was recorded.
In the game, Landon Swallow improved his hitting streak to 10 straight hits.
Brayden Anderson suffered the loss for the Scots on the mound. Tyler Davis started the game and went 3.2 innings and gave up five hits, two runs and had three strike outs. Anderson pitched 2.2 innings and gave up two hits and one run with two strike outs. Parker Paschal came in for 1.0 inning and gave up an unearned run and walked one. Kenny Jennings pitched .2 innings and allowed a run, walked two and struck out one. Colton Will pitched 1.0 inning and gave up one hit four runs, one of which was earned, walked three batters and struck out one.

The Scots return to action with a SLIAC doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Fred Wann Field for SENIOR DAY, beginning at 12 p.m.
