Scots baseball drops two games to MUW at Fred Wann Field

BATESVILLE, Arkansas - The Lyon College baseball Scots dropped a SLIAC doubleheader to the Mississippi University for Women Owls on Saturday afternoon at Fred Wann Field in Batesville.

The Scots (18-19, 7-9) lost 10-2 in Game 1 and dropped the second game 8-1.
In the first game, MUW took a 5-0 lead through the first two innings. In the bottom of the third, Landon Swallow doubled to left field to bring in Braden Bramlett and Ashton Compton to make the score 5-2.
MUW picked up an unearned run in the top of the fourth and scored three more runs in the top of the eighth inning to lead 9-2. The Owls added another unearned run in the top of the ninth.

Lyon College scored two runs on six hits and four errors in Game 1.
The Scots hits came from Kooper McCoy, Ashton Compton and Garrett Graef. Swallow led the team with three hits in four at-bats. 

Patrick Babcock was the losing pitcher in the game. He pitched two innings, gave up three hits, five runs, three of which were earned. Tyler Davis came in for one inning of work and gave up a run on two walks, two strike outs and one hit-batsman. Colton Will came in for the next four innings and allowed two hits, one run, walked one and struck out two. Brayden Anderson finished the game by pitching the final two innings. He gave up five hits, three runs, two of which were earned and struck out one. 

In game two, the Scots scored one run on seven hits and made four more errors.
MUW scored two runs in the top of the first inning and the score stayed 2-0 through the bottom of the sixth. Swallow doubled to left-center to score Slade Inman for the Scots to make it a 2-1 game.
In the top of the seventh, MUW scored six times and four of the runs were unearned.

Hits for the Scots included a 2-for-3 performance from Walker Smith. Single hits came from Bramlett, Compton. Inman, Swallow and Logan Lighter.

Aiden Connolly was the losing pitcher for Lyon College. He pitched six innings, gave up six hits eight runs, four of which were earned, walked two, struck out two, had a wild pitch and hit two batters. Connor Taylor pitched the final three innings and gave up two hits and struck out three.

The Scots end their SLIAC season on May 3rd at Principia College. They will play a single non-conference game on May 4th at Westminster College.
