ST. ANN, Missouri - The Lyon College softball Scots dropped a doubleheader at Fontbonne 5-3 and 8-1 on Friday afternoon in St. Ann, Missouri.
The Scots (9-25, 5-9) fell behind 4-0 in the first game before
Rebecca Rodriguez hit a pop up to second base and
Olivia Orf scored on an error by the Fontbonne second baseman in the top of the sixth inning.Â
The Scots came back in the top of the seventh inning when MK Duffield doubled to left field and
Sydney Lasher scored on the play.
Olivia Orf singled to right field to bring in
Anna Voth to make it 5-3.
Georgia Holzer was the losing pitcher for Lyon College in Game 1.
In the second game, Fontbonne led 2-0 when the Scots scored in the top of the third inning. Rodriguez homered to left field to start off the top of the third and
Sophie Varela doubled to left center field. Voth singled to left field and Varela advanced to third base with two outs.
Fontbonne scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and added one run in the bottom of the sixth.
Sydney Lasher picked up the loss in the second game, with
Madison DeRoussel and
Ashley Abel coming in to pitch as the game continued.
The Scots will be on the road to Hendrix College on Monday afternoon for a non-conference doubleheader.Â
