Scots wrestling results from Day One of NCWA Nationals

BOSSIER CITY, Louisiana -- Lyon College men's and women's wrestling began their competition at the 2025 NCWA Nationals at Brookshire Grocery Arena.

On the men's side of the competition for the Scots, they finished a collective 7-5 on opening day, securing 19.0 team points.
Through day one of the tournament, the Scots sit in 25th place out of 89 teams in the men's standings.

Junior Eli Lupton finished 2-1 on the day, competing in the 197-pound weight class.
Lupton defeated Gregory Mullinax of Ohio State University within the first minute, coming away with a pin fall victory at the 0:45 mark.
In his second bout, Lupton fell via 19-3 technical fall to Isaiah Hernandez of Vanguard University.
Lupton snagged his second victory of the day in the consolation bracket opener, securing an 8-3 fall victory at the 4:03 mark against JeRon Rayam of West Chester University (PA).

Junior Ty Ferguson finished 1-1 on the day, competing in the 125-pound weight class.
Ferguson took on Rayyan Rashid of the University of Connecticut to begin his tournament run, earning the victory via fall over Rashid at the 1:50 mark of the opening period.
In the second round of the championship bracket, Ferguson fell to Wayshaun Hicks of Liberty University via 6-0 fall at the 3:41 mark.
Ferguson earns a first-round bye in the consolation bracket, and will take on the winner of Cruz Kaye of Ottawa University (AZ) versus Anthony Nguyen of the University of Washington on Friday.

Junior Clay Queen Jr. finished 2-1 on the day, competing in the 149-pound weight class.
Queen Jr. opened his tournament run against Jack Dean of the University of Connecticut, picking up the win against Dean in the first period via fall at the 2:02 mark.
In the second round of the championship bracket, Queen Jr. fell via 11-4 decision to Camron Crump of Life University.
Queen Jr. earned a forfeit victory in the opening round of the consolation bracket, sending him to bracket's round-of-16 bout against Adam Deeney of Montana State University.

Sophomore Shmuel "Sam" Tabak finished 1-1 on the day, competing in the 133-pound weight class.
Tabak began his run against Michael Slass of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (NY), earning his second collegiate victory via 20-11 major decision after three periods.
In the next round of the championship bracket, Tabak fell via fall at the 0:53 mark to Chase Arnestad of Liberty University.
Tabak earns a first-round bye in the consolation bracket, and will face the winner of Liam Campbell of the University of Massachusetts versus William Caprenter of the University of Florida on Friday.

Junior Robert Lee finished 1-1 on the day, competing in the 285-pound weight class.
Lee started his tournament run against Dzevat Kolenovic of Springfield Technical Community College (MA), dropping a hard-fought bout against Kolenovic via 12-6 fall at the 5:23 mark.
In the consolation bracket opening round, Lee picked up a 6-3 fall victory at the 3:49 mark against Spencer Green of The Apprentice School.
On Friday afternoon, Lee will continue his run in the consolation bracket in a round-of-16 bout against Josh Hermann of Liberty University.

Senior Liam Selhorst had to medically forfeit his matches on the day.

On the women's side of the competition for the Scots, they finished a collective 1-1 on opening day, securing 3.0 team points.
Through day one of the tournament, the Scots sit in 27th place out of 52 teams in the women's standings.

Sophomore Rubi Gonzalez finished 1-0 on the day, competing in the 110-pound weight class.
Gonzalez defeated Carlita Cardona-Arce of Washington State University at the 2:00 mark via fall.
The victory sends Gonzalez into the quarterfinal round of the championship bracket, where she will take on top-seeded Krystal Carona of the University of Nevada at Las Vegas on Friday.

Freshman Kaylei Parish finished 0-1 on the day, competing in the 103-weight class.
Parish fell in the opening round of the championship bracket to Kaelynn Seidl of the University of Nevada at Las Vegas via fall at the 2:34 mark.
The loss sends Parish to the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket, where she will compete against Zalanna Garcia of the University of Houston on Friday.

Senior Mikayla Wallace and sophomore Sidney Milligan each had to medically forfeit their matches on the day.

Day two of the NCWA National Tournament will begin at 9:00 AM tomorrow morning from Brookshire Grocery Arena.
