Eureka, Illinois - Lyon College Scots men's wrestling finishes the day at the SLIAC Championships, with
Eli Lupton taking 3rd place in the 197lb. weight class. Ty Fergurson and Clay Queen would also earn wins on the mat to place as well. Daniel Hackett, Donovan Washington, and Jamie Vazquez competed as well but did not place. Washington made the SLIAC All-Sportsmanship team.
Finishing third in the 197-pound weight class, Lupton did well against his SLIAC opponents. He began his day facing Schreiner and winning by decision (12-8). He would advance to the Consolation semifinals where he would fall to Huntingdon in 2:22. After a competition bye he would face Huntingdon again losing by major decision (13-5). He would be the only Scot to take the podium at the tournament.
Placing fourth in the 133-pound weight class, Ferguson started his day against Westminster falling in 1:26(3-0). He would then take on Schreiner in a 6:22 battle which he would win by fall (9-1). Ferguson would take on Ozarks but fall 1:08 (6-0).
Finishing sixth at 149-pounds, Queen would take the mat first against Ozarks but falling in under a minute. Next, he would compete against Eureka, falling again in under a minute. His next match would come against Huntingdon as he got the win by fall in 3:57 (4-3). His final match of the day was a rematch against his Ozarks opponent. Queen would go three rounds and trade blows, but would fall by major decision (26-13).
