COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Lyon College men's and women's wrestling compete well with eight top-five finishers at the NCWA Southwest Championships.
All 11 wrestlers on the men's and women's teams for the Scots have each qualified for the NCWA Nationals in Bossier City, Louisiana two weeks from now.

Emma de Brum was also named the NCWA Southwest Conference Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year.
The Scots women's team sent five wrestlers to compete at the tournament, securing a total of 67.5 team points, placing them in 2nd out of 14 women's teams.
D'Mysha James finished 2nd in the 180 class, going 1-1 and securing 16.0 team points. After picking up her semifinal victory via pin fall against Ava Culver of Wayne State College, James fell in the 1st place match via pin fall to Lia Gutierrez of Tarleton State University.
Sidney Milligan also finished in 2nd place in the 160 class, going 1-1 and securing 15.5 team points for the Scots. After picking up her semifinal victory via 18-0 technical fall over Zaharia Willis of Xavier University, Milligan fell in the 1st place match via 12-3 majority decision to Natalie Venable of Tarleton State University.
Kaylei Parish finished 3rd in the 103 class, finishing 2-1 and securing 15.5 team points. Both of Parish's victories came via pin fall, each against Taylor Marines of the University of North Texas in the quarterfinal and then later on in the 3rd place match against Zalanna Garcia of the University of Houston.
Rubi Gonzalez also finished in 3rd place in the 110 class, finishing 2-1 and securing 14.5 team points. Both of Gonzalez's victories came via pin fall, each against Raegan Mass of Wayne State College in the consolation semifinal and then later on in the 3rd place match against Zoe Byers of Xavier University.
Mikayla Wallace finished 6th in the 138 class, and despite having to medically forfeit her run in the tournament, she was able to secure a pivotal 6.0 team points for the Scots.Â
The Scots men's team sent six wrestlers to compete at the meet, securing a total of 79.5 team points, placing them in 4th out of 17 men's teams.
Clay Queen Jr. also finished 4th in his 149 weight class, finishing 4-2 on the day with 19.5 team points secured for the Scots. Two of Queen Jr.'s victories came via pin fall, each against Camryn Fields of McNeese State University and Sean Conway of Texas A&M University, respectively.
Eli Lupton also finished in 3rd place, but in the 197 weight class. Lupton finished 3-1 on the day with 15.5 team points, securing each victory via pin fall against Colin Vasquez of Tarleton State University and Micah Noel of Wayne State College.
Ty Ferguson finished in 4th place in the 125 weight class, finishing 2-2 and securing 14.5 team points. Ferguson had one pin fall victory at the 2:31 mark in the consolation semifinals against Jared Engel of Wayne State College.
Liam Selhorst also finished in 5th place, but in the 184 weight class. Selhorst finished 3-2 on the day, securing 12.0 team points for Lyon College. Two of Selhorst's three victories also came via pin fall, as he secured his placement with a pin fall victory at the 3:59 mark against Madison Lawrence of Xavier University.
Robert Lee finished in 5th place in the 285 weight class, finishing 2-2 and securing 12.0 team points for the Scots. His two victories came against Isaac Silva of Tarleton State University, each win coming via pin fall in the quarterfinal and 5th-place matches, respectively.
Shmuel "Sam" Tabak finished in 6th place in the 133 weight class, finishing 1-2 earning 6.0 team points, along with his first collegiate victory. Tabak fell in his first two matches, placing him in the 7th-place match against Caleb Sell of the University of Houston, securing his first collegiate victory via pin fall at the 0:40 mark.
The Scots men's and women's wrestling teams will close out their respective seasons at NCWA NationalS at Brookshire Grocery Arena in Bossier City, Louisiana. The tournament will begin on Thursday, March 13 and run through Sunday, March 16.
