Batesville, AR- The Lyon College Fighting Scots secured an important home victory on Saturday afternoon, overcoming a slow start to earn a 59–51 win over the Spalding University Golden Eagles. With this win, the Scots improve to 6–1 on the season, remain undefeated in SLIAC competition at 3-0, and now sit at the top of conference standings.
After trailing 26–20 at halftime, the Scots responded with a focused and efficient second half, outscoring the Golden Eagles 39–25. Lyon established its rhythm early in the period and maintained control for the remainder of the contest.
Trevon Taylor led the Scots with 15 points and nine rebounds, providing a consistent interior presence on both ends of the floor. Stephen Reed followed with 13 points, delivering several key baskets during Lyon's second-half surge. Colbie West put up nine points, four rebounds, and one assist.
Lyon also received meaningful production from its bench, with 5 points from Cameron Brown and four points from Camron Williford, who led the team with three assists. The Scots' defensive effort proved decisive as well, forcing 16 Spalding turnovers and limiting the Golden Eagles to just one made three-pointer for the entire game. Scots went 14-17 (73.7%) from the charity stripe and went 16-32 (50%) from the field in the second half.
The Scots hit the court again next Wednesday, December 10th at 1:00 PM as they face the University of Ozarks Eagles.
