A Letter from Director of Athletics, Kevin Jenkins

November 17, 2025

Dear Lyon College Alumni and Friends,

What an extraordinary fall 2025 athletics season it has been for the Scots! This year marked a historic turning point as Lyon College was granted active NCAA Division III membership, allowing our student-athletes to compete in national championships for the first time. We also saw our teams make great strides in their respective conferences, the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) for football.

Here is a summary of the fall 2025 athletic highlights:

Football
The 2025 football season was a memorable one, marked by the long-awaited opening of the new on-campus Bad Boy Mowers Stadium. The Scots, in their second season in the SCAC, finished with an overall record of 2-7 and a 1-4 conference record after falling to Hendrix College in the SCAC Championship Weekend for third place. Key moments included a thrilling 40-28 comeback victory over Austin College and an inaugural home game that, while a narrow loss, showcased the excitement of having football on campus.

Volleyball
The volleyball team had a milestone season, making their first-ever appearance in the SLIAC tournament. They secured three all-conference selections and made it to the quarterfinal round where they ultimately fell to Webster University. The program's progress in its first season of post-season eligibility bodes well for the future.

Men's & Women's Soccer
Both the men's and women's soccer teams were granted full post-season eligibility with the DIII transition. The men's team had a strong showing by winning the SLIAC Conference Tournament which enabled them to advance to the NCAA DIII Tournament, marking a historic first for the program. They faced Bowdoin College in the first round of the tournament.

Men's & Women's Cross Country
The cross country teams competed at the NCAA DIII Midwest Regional in November. At the SLIAC Cross Country Championships, the women's team finished third overall with two top-15 finishes, and the men's team placed seventh in the conference.

We are incredibly proud of the dedication and resilience of our student-athletes and coaching staff this historic season. Their hard work has set a high standard for Lyon College athletics as we embrace our new era in NCAA Division III.

Go Scots!
