Batesville, AR – Lyon College hosted two teams at the Lyon College Tri-Meet. Three Scots wrestlers earned victories in their matches against Central Baptist College.
In the 125-pound weight class, Shmuel Tabak earned a victory over a Mustang wrestler with a first-period pin, taking the match 6-0.
Ty Ferguson, competing at 133 pounds, recorded a pinfall at 4:40 to secure a 12-0 win.
Eli Lupton claimed the win in the 197-pound weight class via forfeit.
Leonard Dinwiddie battled hard against the Mustangs but was ultimately pinned at 5:06. Donovan Washington was pinned early in his match at 1:35. In the mid-heavyweight bout,
Jaime Vazquez fought a long match but was pinned at 6:37.
Cade Norton also fought valiantly but was pinned just under two minutes. At heavyweight,
Israel Benardo pushed his opponent to the limit with several near falls but was unable to secure the pin. The match concluded with the Mustangs earning a narrow 4-0 victory.
Central Baptist would take the match 27-18.
Lyon picked up early momentum as
Shmuel Sam Tabak and
Ty Ferguson each secured victories by forfeit at 125 and 133 pounds. At 157,
Leonard Dinwiddie delivered one of the strongest performances of the day, dominating his
matchup with an 18–3 tech fall in 6:20. Heavyweight
Israel Benardo closed the dual on a high note for the Scots, overpowering his opponent for a fall in just 2:10.
Donovan Washington and Cade Norton were tested early in their matchups against the Bulldogs, with both being pinned in the opening moments of their bouts. Jaime Vazquez delivered one of the most intense matches of the day, pushing his opponent to full time in a back-and-forth battle before ultimately falling in the final seconds. In the 285-pound weight class, Israel Benardo closed out the lineup with authority, securing a dominant pin just 2:10 into the match.
