Westminster secures 4-0 victory over Lyon

Batesville, ARThe Spalding Golden Eagles flexed their offensive strength in a 4-0 win over the Scots, moving Lyon to 2-5 on the season.

Zoe Papazoglou and Katelyn Balderas led the Scots' attack, combining for four total shots. Balderas placed two attempts on target, while Papazoglou added one on goal. The Westminster Blue Jays applied heavy offensive pressure, recording 18 total shots with 16 on net. In goal, Kam Fowler stood tall for Lyon, collecting 12 saves on the day.

Early in the first half, Zoe Papazoglou pushed the ball downfield and fired a shot on goal that missed just wide to the right. Westminster opened the scoring in the 5th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Blue Jays continued to apply pressure, adding a second goal midway through the half to extend their advantage to 2-0. Ten minutes later, Westminster struck again in the 41st minute, pushing the score to 3-0 heading into the break.

In the second half, the Blue Jays found the back of the net once more in the 54th minute to extend their lead to 4-0. Katelyn Balderas led a push up the field for Lyon, putting a shot on goal that was stopped by the Westminster keeper. Zoe Papazoglou recorded the final attempt of the match for the Scots, but her shot was also saved, closing out the contest


Next up, the Scots return to action on October 5th at 12:00 PM, when they take on Stephens College.
