Scots dominate Principia Panthers in 3-1 road victory

Elsah, IL – The Scots secured a strong road victory, defeating the Principia Panthers 3-1 in impressive fashion. With the win, Lyon improves to 6-6-3 on the season.

The Scots put on an impressive offensive performance, recording 13 shots with four on target. Coming off the bench, Lucca Torres made an immediate impact with five shots, including two on goal and one finding the back of the net. Matheus Nunes and Joao Barros matched each other statistically, each tallying two shots, one on target, and one goal apiece. Traviss Ragan, Tomas Biasi, Harrison Craig, and Christian De La Rosa also contributed to the offensive effort with shots of their own. In goal, Gabriel Rangel stood tall, facing six shots on target and making five crucial saves.

Both the Panthers and Scots applied pressure early on, with the Panthers getting the first shot of the match — a chance that was stopped by Rangel. Moments later, Matheus Nunes and Leonardo Bravo connected to find the back of the net, giving Lyon a 1-0 lead at the 12:10 mark. After a penalty was awarded to the Scots, Lucca Torres capitalized on the opportunity, burying a shot to extend the lead to 2-0. Lyon carried that convincing advantage into halftime with strong momentum on their side.

Early in the second half, the Scots fired back-to-back shots from Nunes and Barros, but both missed just high and to the right. Principia responded with a goal of their own in the 58th minute to cut into the lead. Later in the third, Barros and Ariel Reyes executed a clean give-and-go play, with Barros finding the back of the net for the final goal of the match. The Scots held strong the rest of the way, securing the win and leaving Illinois on a high note.

Scots will make their final regular season debut at home on Wednesday, October 29th at 1:00 PM.
