Scots fall to Greenville after a late goal

Greenville, IL – In a competitive SLIAC matchup, the Scots fell just short in a hard-fought 1-0 loss to the Greenville University Panthers. A late goal proved to be the difference, sealing the win for the Panthers. With the result, the Scots move to 5-6-3 on the season.
 
The Scots generated 11 total shots in the match, with two landing on target. Matheus Nunes led the offensive effort with four attempts, including one on goal, while Cristian De La Rosa added three shots of his own. Joao Barros, Roman Magnanelli, Lucca Torres, and Inaki Terra each contributed one shot, with Terra's finding the mark. In goal, Gabriel Rangel faced three shots and recorded two saves.
 
The Scots and Panthers battled back and forth across the pitch, with both sides showing strong efforts on offense and defense. In the 25th minute, Greenville sent a shot on target, but Scots goalkeeper Gabriel Rangel made a sharp save on the bottom right corner. Moments later, Matheus Nunes broke through the Panthers' defense to fire a shot, narrowly missing wide left (27:34). Greenville continued to apply pressure, but their remaining attempts went off target.
 
Early in the second half, Cristian De La Rosa fired a shot that sailed just high over the right corner of the goal. In the 56th minute, Greenville was awarded a penalty kick, but the attempt ricocheted off the crossbar, keeping the match level. Moments later, Matheus Nunes tested his luck with a strike toward the top of the net, but the Panthers' goalkeeper made the save. In the 84th minute, Greenville finally broke through, finding the back of the net to secure the 1-0 victory in dramatic fashion.
