Scots fall to Gorloks on Homecoming weekend

Batesville, AR – Despite applying heavy offensive pressure throughout the match, the Scots came up short in a defensive showdown against the Webster University Gorloks. With the loss, Lyon moves to 6-6-1 on the season.

The Scots generated 10 total shots, with three landing on target. Tiago Donadon led the way with three attempts, including one on goal. Joao Barros and Matheus Nunes each added two shots, with Barros putting one on frame. Salvador Fernandez, Lucca Torres, and Leonardo Bravo each contributed one shot, combining for two more on target. In goal, Gabriel Rangel started for the Scots, facing three strong attempts and recording two saves.

Lyon opened strong, with Nunes getting the first look in the fifth minute, sending his shot just wide right. Webster quickly countered with a chance of their own, missing high over the crossbar. Both teams traded possessions throughout the half, but the Gorloks broke through late, finding the back of the net at the 40:11 mark with a shot high to the right past Rangel. Rangel responded with a key save shortly after to close out the first half.

As the second half progressed, Fernandez looked to even the score, but his shot was stopped by the Gorloks' goalkeeper. Donadon followed up with another strong attempt in the 78th minute, though it too was saved. Despite Lyon's continued effort to find an equalizer, Webster maintained offensive pressure late and managed to hold off the Scots to secure the win.

Scots will travel to Greenville University on Thursday, October 23rd at 5:00 PM.
