Carlinville, IL – A hard-fought match ended in a draw after a late goal by Blackburn. The Scots record their second straight tie of the week and now sit at 2-6-2 on the season.
The Scots put together a strong offensive performance, firing 26 shots with 18 on target.
Lauren Couture led the way with five shots, including four on goal.
Jessica Steele and
Katelyn Balderas combined for four total shots, three of which were on target.
Emma Rumore and
Rylie Williams each added three shots, contributing five on goal between them.
Emily Betzold recorded two shots, while
Zoe Papazoglou,
Hannah Higgins,
Audrey Cox,
Angelica Soto, and
Lilly Barr each added one shot to the total. In goal,
Jessie Stauffer stood tall for the Scots, facing five shots and making four saves.
The Scots came out strong to open the match, with
Emma Rumore putting the first shot on goal just two minutes in, but it was saved by the Beavers' goalkeeper (2:40).
Rylie Williams,
Jessica Steele, and Rumore followed with back-to-back attempts, all turned away by the keeper. Midway through the first half, Lyon continued to apply pressure with several more shots on target, but none found the back of the net. Despite controlling much of the offensive tempo, the Scots entered halftime locked in a 0-0 tie.
In the second half,
Katelyn Balderas pushed up the field, looking to break the tie, but her attempt was denied.
Angelica Soto followed with a shot that sailed high and wide (74:55).
Hannah Higgins then broke through in the 77th minute, putting the Scots ahead 1-0. Both teams continued to create opportunities as the clock wound down, and with less than a minute remaining, a free kick found the top corner of the net, allowing the Beavers to even the score and send the match to a 1-1 draw.
