Late goal lifts Webster over Lyon

Batesville, AR – Webster University's strong offensive showing tested the Scots' defense on Homecoming weekend. The Gorloks edged out Lyon in a 2-1 victory, dropping the Scots to 2-7-2 on the season.

The Scots were able to produce five shots, with three coming on target. Lilly Barr and Emilee Simpson led the effort with two shots each, both recording one on goal. Angelica Soto added one shot, also on target. Jessie Stauffer started between the pipes, making four saves, while Millie Beller came in relief to close out the match with one save.

Webster opened their offensive attack early with a shot on goal at the 2:50 mark, saved by Stauffer. The Gorloks tested her again moments later but missed off target. Soto responded for the Scots with a strong shot aimed at the bottom right corner, but the Webster goalkeeper made the stop. Both teams traded possessions and scoring chances throughout the half, rounding out a tightly contested first period.

Fairly early in the second half, Webster found the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead (52:47). Simpson answered for the Scots ten minutes later, breaking away from defenders and slipping the ball past the Gorloks' keeper to even the score at 1-1 (62:58). Late in the half, Webster regained control, breaking through the Scots' defense to score the go-ahead goal and secure the 2-1 victory.

Up next, the Scots will travel to Greenville University on Thursday, October 23rd at 7:00 PM
