BATESVILLE, Arkansas -
Savanna Lopez and
Natalya Kaza scored 17 points each to lead the Lyon College Scots women's basketball team over the visiting Fontbonne Griffins 91-65 on Thursday afternoon at Becknell Gymnasium.
The Scots (6-6, 3-2) took a 30-15 lead after the first quarter and led 53-29 by halftime. Lyon College led the third quarter 22-15 and added 16 points in the fourth quarter.Â
Molly Mason had 11 points and
Jewel Walley scored 10 to complete the double-digit scoring for the Scots.
Haven Cooper scored nine points,
Chasity Taylor had seven points,
Alexis Shelton scored six points,
Savannah Stout scored five, while
Emily Walley,
Izabel Soto and
Olivia Wallace had three points each.
Dalye Hambelton led the team in assists with six, while Mason had nine rebounds and
Olivia Jones had two rebounds, one assist and one steal.Â
The Scots started the game shooting 58 percent from the field and finished the game with a 44.2 percent average. They hit 12 of 35 three-pointers and made three of three free throws. Lyon College got 44 points in the paint, scored 21 points off of 13 Fontbonne turnovers, got 18 second chance points, scored 31 points off the fast-break and got 40 points from the bench.
Two free throws from Kaza with 4:25 left in the third quarter, put the Scots up by 40 points, their largest lead in the game 71-31. Lyon College never trailed in the game.
